Neck Dissection

    • Modified Radical Neck Dissection preserves sternoclidomastoid, spinal accessory nerve, and/or jugular vein

    • Neck dissection takes omohyoid muscle, cervical lymphatics, facial vein and artery, superior thyroid vein, transverse cervical artery, cervical rootlets

Preoperative Considerations:

    1. Shoulder roll to extend the neck

    2. Incise from mastoid posterior to SCM verticaly to hyoid

    3. Dissection:

      1. Posteriorly to anterior edge of trapezius

      2. Anteriorly to expose strap muscles

      3. Inferiorly to expose clavical and medial head of SCM
